5 Ways To Promote Your Business Online For Free

2. List Your Site On Directories

There are an overwhelming number of on-line directories these days. I don’t suggest adding your site to every single one (that would take a lifetime!), but instead adding it to the most relevant and most popular.
It’s well worth seeking out local directories as well as the larger national ones. Fill out as many fields as you can for things like contact details, opening hours, photos, videos, links and social media. Take some time to write an engaging and concise description of your business to draw customers in without boring them.

3. Make The Most Of Social Media

This might be an obvious one but it should not be neglected! Used correctly social media can be a really effective way of driving traffic to your site.

You may wish to beyond the usual suspects, too. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus are all great and have their own strengths, but a lot of brands are also seeing great success with other networks like Instagram, Pinterest and Foursquare.

4. Use Relevant Forums

With hundreds of thousands of active forums on the digital realm it isn’t hard to find one that is relevant to your business. Do some searching and join a prevalent forum in your sector. Alternatively, join a forum dedicated to a certain area.

Make sure you aren’t breaking any rules when it comes to self promotion. Do participate in discussion and add something to the community. You will have a lot more success if you make a real effort to be a part of the community rather than just posting an advert and never returning.

5. Start A Blog

If done well, a blog can be a great way to attract visitors to your site. It can establish you as an authority in your field and will have the added bonus of helping with your site’s rankings in Google.

If you do start a blog make sure you update it fairly regularly and with great, original content. Share each post on social media and other avenues to maximise your reach.
